What is a mala?

The story of Inaya mala

Choosing your mantra

It's an honour for me to have started creating malas, because they're much more than just jewellery.

They are ritual objects, thanks to which I have finally succeeded in practising meditation. Indeed, for more than five years I've been trying to meditate, sometimes with apps, concentrating solely on breathing or trying to ‘detach myself from my thoughts’.

I often left these experiences frustrated and angry that I couldn't do it.

Ever since I started training in Rainbow Reiki, which incorporates mantra recitation practices with malas, I finally managed to create moments of intense concentration and pure presence.

These moments occur both in the energy treatments I give to others or to myself, and in my personal practice, where mala has become a precious tool for meditation and connecting with subtle energies.

Malas are a gateway from the material to the spiritual, from the visible to the invisible.

What is a mala?

It is a rosary of 108 beads found in Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Jainist traditions, and used for mantra recitation (see the definition of mantra below).

The practice of stringing a beaded necklace of varying numbers while reciting sacred formulas can be found in many traditions (Catholics, Muslims, Orthodox, etc.) and, in my view, has a spiritual and universal significance that goes far beyond the dogma of a particular religion.

I use a mala on a daily basis in my energy treatments and for personal practices. And because I couldn't find the malas that suited me, I decided to create my own.

What is a mantra?

A mantra is a sacred formula, prayer or invocationrepeated as part of spiritual and religious practices. The goal: meditation, concentration, healing or invocation of divinities.

Choosing your mantra
